Yup, it's true. As the posters around town hinted, Iron Maiden will be heading to Edmonton.
The British metal legends, piloted by Bruce Dickinson, will perform Friday, June 6 at Rexall Place.
Tickets are $39.50, $55.50 and $69.50 plus service charges. They go on sale Friday, March 28 at Ticketmaster.
Maiden will be playing five Western Canadian cities on their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour. The other dates are Vancouver (June 3), Calgary (June 5), Regina (June 8) and Winnipeg (June 9).
Dickinson, a licensed commercial pilot, has been flying the band's 757 jet, Ed Force One, around the world. Fans can even buy seats on the plane for some of Iron Maiden's European stops.
If that's not cool enough, fans will be able to download a free copy of the group's upcoming compilation album, Somewhere Back In Time, featuring tracks from the '80s.
(Take that, Metallica.)
Rod Smallwood Maiden's manager, Rod Smallwood, says it's an attempt to expose younger listeners to some of the band's earlier work, including The Number of the Beast, Children of the Damned and Hallowed Be Thy Name.
The download, which will be available May 13 on www.ironmaiden.com, will expire after three listens.
Fans can then buy the compilation if they want.
Thanks Canada.com for the heads up.
