A review of Iron Maiden's gig in Melbourne february 6th. For the first time in fifteen years, British rock band Iron Maiden accompanied by their 60-strong crew and support staff and over 12 tons of equipment have returned to Australia in style on their 'Somewhere Back In Time' world tour – flying in on their private converted Boeing 757 decorated with Iron Maiden designs and piloted by vocalist Bruce Dickinson himself, who is a qualified airline captain.

Late night again so slept in til about 10, ordered breakfast and then, yes,, you guessed it, emails etc. At least with the time difference of 8 hours ahead here I can clear all incoming from previous day and then have time to think, plan and instruct without incoming blocking up the processes!

Rod's Diary Sat & Sun Feb 2-3 -- a very long day!!

So having been up very late again at the EMI party last night we were up and packing by 9am to get to the airport for the long flight to Perth. Everyone was on time for a change and I guess we got to the airport about 11am and got through passport control quickly and joined a queue for the security scans -- and this is where everything went awry.

Production company ML Executives has invested in a Soundcraft Vi6 digital console, which will form an integral part of the sound system they are providing for the IRON MAIDEN world tour.

Woken up by the phone ringing, it was one of our US promoters who I know well so I wasn't too abusive even though it felt like 6 in the morning. He told me it was 12.30pm Mumbai time, which l guess is actually 7 am GMT as we are 5.5 hours ahead of the UK, so I thanked him for waking me up!
