As previously reported, Norwegian Extreme Metallers Enslaved have challenged Heavy Metal giants Iron Maiden to a friendly football match when Maiden visit Bergen, Norway later this year. Enslaved have chosen Maiden Norway to bring their official statement to the public!
In their statement, Enslaved frontman Ivar Bjørnson says:
”The idea came from Iron Maiden’s Norwegian fanclub (www.maidennorway.com), and now it is official: Enslaved challenges Iron Maiden to a friendly game of football in connection with their concert in Bergen, November 23rd 2006. Iron Maiden has always been a source of inspiration for Enslaved and the band’s members; musically, lyrically, live and last but not least the attitude towards what we have dedicated our lives to: metal (!).
Enslaved is well aware of the need for amplification (pardon the pun), luckily the town of Bergen is filled to the brim with football competence both within the metal and sport communities. Enslaved featuring crew, friends and allies will be waiting eagerly, now it is all up to Maiden accepting the challenge.
In any case: Up the Irons!
-Ivar & Enslaved”
Tonje Elisabeth Hansen, Enslaved's manager, was quoted saying "Good shit!" to Enslaveds statement.
With two giants as these on the field, what'll it be? Eddie as referee?
